Hours at a Glance
Opening Days
Mass Audubon lists the farm as open Tuesday to Sunday. The one weekday it is shut is Monday, except when Monday is a holiday, when the farm opens on its usual 9-to-5 schedule.
Hours can change for weather, special events and holidays. Before a long drive, check Mass Audubon's Drumlin Farm page or call the front desk at 781-259-2200.
Daily Hours: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The farm opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 5 p.m. Admission is paid at the window by the Nature Center, near the parking lot. The trails, the farmyard and the wildlife exhibits are all inside the paid area, so everything runs on the same hours.
Mass Audubon's rental page notes that the barns are locked 15 minutes before closing. If seeing the sheep, goats, pigs and cows is the point of the visit, aim to be in the farmyard by 4 p.m. The farm animals guide covers when the farmers do afternoon chores.
When to Visit
- Spring: Mass Audubon says lambs and goat kids are usually born in March, and teacher naturalists staff the barns on spring weekends. This is the busiest and most-searched time of year: searches for Drumlin Farm peak in April.
- Summer: Drumlin Farm Camp runs on site, the crop fields are full, and the farm stand opens on weekends from June.
- Fall: Harvest season, the once-a-year hayride at the Fall-oween event, and good birding on the drumlin.
- Winter: Quiet trails and fewer visitors. Mass Audubon notes the Pond House is closed for maple sugaring, usually in February and March.
Mass Audubon Shop Hours
The Shop opens Thursday through Sunday and on Monday holidays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. On a Tuesday or Wednesday visit the farm is open but the Shop is not.
Admission
Admission is $9 for adults, $6 for seniors 65 and over, and $6 for children ages 2 to 12. Mass Audubon members get in free. For special events such as Fall-oween on the Farm, Mass Audubon charges event pricing to every visitor, members included. The tickets and membership guide lists every discount, including library passes and free-access programs.
Holidays and Special Events
Monday holidays follow the normal open schedule. Big seasonal events, such as the fall festival with its hayride, run within regular hours but at event prices. The events and programs page explains how to find the current calendar on Mass Audubon's site.
